Scout Spotlight | Jacob Kissing

Get to know Jacob Kissing, UX Designer at Launch Scout

What’s the best part of your job? My greatest joy is collaborating with talented and passionate individuals, both at Launch Scout and the Clients we work with! Everyone brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table to help build one-of-a-kind software.

What/who inspired you to pursue the career you have today? Ultimately, I think my parents helped instill hard work and discipline in me, regardless of the pursuit.

What Launch Scout value do you align with most? Without a doubt, the value I align most with is “It takes a team”. “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”, sums it up nicely. We are always better together when working as a tight unit.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? “Don’t half-ass two things, whole-ass one thing.” - Ron Swanson

What do you like to do in your free time? Spend time with my Wife, play music with my friends, learn new skills, and build things. We live in Phoenix, Arizona and enjoy spending time outdoors rock climbing, backpacking, and fishing.

Lightning Round

If I was reincarnated I’d like to come back as A White Wolf.

What is one thing you can’t live without? Water.

If you had $10,000 to spend on one item what would it be? If a trip is “one item” then a shoe-string budget, off-road moto-camping tour through the Baja with my wife, fueled by local cuisine and margs.

What’s your go-to hot beverage order? Cappuccino.

How old is your oldest pair of shoes? 11 years ago, when traveling for a lacrosse game during my Freshman year of high school, I found a pair of newish looking moccasins abandoned and dusty, behind some old sporting equipment. I still wear them to this day and they are still very comfy. Easily my oldest pair by like 9 years.

Favorite movie(s)? The Breakfast Club and Napoleon Dynamite, plus anything Tarantino.

Favorite album(s)? Too much good music has been made to do justice here, but I enjoy live/recorded performances.

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Live at Slane Castle (2003)
  • Led Zeppelin - Live at MSG (1973)
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd - Live at Fox Theater (1976)

Favorite binge show? Any nature or adventure documentaries.

Favorite vacation spot? The Sierra Nevada Mountains.

One thing most people don’t know about you? I have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
